Downtown Frederick Md
Frederick Md was recognized on Tuesday as one of “10 Great Neighborhoods” for 2010, by the American Planning Association (APA). The APA program is called “Great Places in America”.
The award recognizes three necessary parts to making a Great Neighborhood: streets, neighborhoods and public spaces. Frederick was recognized for many things, including planning, accessibility, community involvement, and for offering “better choices for where and how people work and live.”
Frederick has received awards before, like the “Great American Main Street Award” in 2005, and was named one of the “Distinct Destinations” in 2002 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Frederick “In the Street”
Frederick residents know what a wonderful place Frederick is; but its nice to see that the APA agrees with us! Its great to see the city receive these kinds of awards. Congratulations to all the Planners who had vision and foresight, and put in so much hard work over the years.
