Since 1910 boys scouts have been serving and becoming good citizens in America. From the inception of the Scouting movement, Scouts have been urged to “Do a Good Turn Daily”, as it is the slogan for the Boy Scouts of America. Service to America became Good Turn for America in 2004 and expanded to address the problems of hunger, homelessness, and inadequate housing and poor health in conjunction with the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and other organizations.
This coming Saturday, the Scouts of Frederick County will go door to door picking up bags of food from local residents. The food will go to the local food banks where it was donated. Last year, the Scouts raised over 95,000 pounds of food that carried our poorest neighbors through the holidays. This year the demand is greater.
A hearty “thankyou!” to all the scouts who Do Good for us in Frederick County.
