First Saturday in Frederick is a great way to explore our beautiful city. “Fire in Ice” is the theme for February 5th, this Saturday, the 5th, and promises to be a fun and artful experience.
Kids will enjoy an interactive ice playground at La Paz Restaurant and marshmallow roasting stations throughout downtown. Flights of Fancy will have an ice checkerboard. Bring your camera to pose with the Penguin.
As usual, there will be live entertainment on every corner, art exhibits and guest artists. Concert Pianist Irina Nuzova will play Beethoven and Rachmaninov at Downtown Piano Works. The shops and galleries will be open until 9 pm and you’ll be able to warm up with hot cocoa stations located every few blocks.
Along with 35 ice sculptures scattered throughout the city and sponsored by local businesses, Churches and organizations, there will be a live ice sculpting demonstration from 5:30 to 8:30 in front of 124 N. Market Street.
First Saturday “Fire in Ice” is sponsored by the Downtown Frederick Partnership and BB&T Bank. See the brochure for all the details and a map of the exciting happenings. Parking on the deck is only $1 all day.
